Henry County Inmate Release Meaning
A release is an exit from one custodian, not always an end to custody. At Henry County Jail, a person may leave after bond, a court order, completion of a county sentence, or another lawful disposition. The same roster removal can follow a transfer to the Missouri Department of Corrections, another county, federal custody, or an administrative correction. A useful record identifies the event, its legal authority, and the destination.
The Henry County Sheriff's Office operates the county jail. It controls the local physical-custody record. Missouri courts explain the case event, while MODOC controls state prison and community-supervision records. MOVANS reports custody or court changes from participating agencies. Federal Bureau of Prisons and ICE tools apply only when a federal or immigration path is supported. Death, escape, or a data correction can also end ordinary roster display without proving community release. These systems should be read in sequence, not treated as interchangeable lists.
Henry County Inmate Release Types
The legal reason for leaving changes where a person appears next. Bond does not end the criminal case. Time served means the custodial term or credit ordered by the court has been satisfied, though supervision or other duties may remain. Probation is court-ordered community supervision. Parole and conditional release move a state prisoner into supervised community status while MODOC legal custody continues. Final discharge ends that supervision.
- Bond or court release
- Use the jail exit entry and Case.net. Bond does not dismiss the charge.
- Time served
- Pair the local release record with the judgment or sentence docket.
- Probation
- Check the court order and active MODOC community assignment.
- Parole or conditional release
- Use the active MODOC record and assigned officer because supervision continues.
- Transfer
- Read the receiving-agency field, then follow the new custodian.
- Final discharge
- Use historical MODOC data and an official record for the exact date.
A dismissal may explain why release was authorized, but the court entry still does not supply the jail's physical-exit time. The local release record remains necessary.
Henry County Release Record Fields
A focused Henry County request should seek existing records instead of asking staff to create a narrative. The booking sheet, jail activity log, inmate or detainee file, and transfer record can connect the original admission to the departure. Missouri's local retention schedule specifically recognizes booking data, reasons for confinement, admission and release dates, property receipts, and transfer information within these record groups.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Full name and inmate ID | Links the release component to the correct booking. |
| Admission date and time | Marks the start of this Henry County custody event. |
| Release date and time | Records when the person physically left the jail. |
| Release authority or type | May identify bond, court order, time served, or another basis. |
| Receiving agency | Separates community departure from a transfer. |
| Property receipt | Documents property held or returned in the jail file. |
| Booking photograph | Connects the requested image to the local booking record. |
The current roster already displays pre-release facts such as name, inmate ID, age, race, sex, booking date and time, arresting agency, charges, bond-related figures, some court dates, and a photo. It does not display the departure fields above. That gap is why a saved roster result cannot replace the release record.
Note: Ask for the receiving-agency field whenever the roster change could reflect movement to another custodian.
Request Henry County Release Records
Call Sheriff Records at 660-885-7300 and ask where to send a written Missouri Sunshine request. No official local release-record form, dedicated request email, photo fee, or production schedule was found. The Sheriff's FAQ says some reports require a formal request and that incident-specific limits may apply.
- Give the person's full name, known inmate ID or booking number, arrest date, birth date if known, and a narrow date range.
- Name the booking sheet and inmate-file portions showing exact admission and release time, release type or authority, and receiving agency.
- Add the transfer entry, jail activity-log entry, property receipt, or booking photo only when needed.
- Ask for an itemized estimate before work exceeds a stated amount and request the legal basis for any withheld part.
- Compare the response with the matching Case.net docket and any named receiving custodian.
Under RSMo § 610.026, ordinary paper copies not larger than 9 by 14 inches generally may cost up to ten cents per page under the version effective August 28, 2025. Permitted staff, research, media, and programming costs may also apply. Ask for electronic delivery and a cost estimate.
Henry County Release Record Retention
Online display and government retention are different. The statewide Sheriff schedule retains arrest records and booking sheets for at least five years. Inmate or detainee files remain at least five years after release, jail activity logs for five years, and daily prisoner counts for one year. These are minimum record schedules. They do not prove how long Henry County keeps a name visible in its current-roster system or the date on which a particular record will be destroyed.
RSMo § 610.023 governs access and agency response. Section 610.100 addresses incident and arrest reports, including statutory closure in some uncharged-arrest situations. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, medical, investigative, victim, and safety information may be withheld or redacted. Under § 610.140, an eligible expungement can close records held by named recipients. A record that is no longer public is not evidence that the custody event never occurred.
Henry County Release Property Pickup
The official Henry County Jail FAQ gives a specific rule for third-party property pickup. The person must be designated by the inmate and must bring a valid physical photo ID, such as a driver license or passport. A photo of the ID on a phone or another digital copy is not accepted.
This instruction applies to property picked up by a designated person. The published material does not establish the separate steps for property returned directly at release, a release exit, pickup time, or waiting place. Call the jail before travel when the property process matters. Ask staff to distinguish property-release arrangements from the inmate's custody release.
Note: Confirm current pickup instructions before traveling because the published FAQ addresses designated pickup, not every release-day property exchange.
Henry County Bond Release Proof
The local Jail FAQ explains that a bondsman posts bail after collecting a nonrefundable fee and may require collateral. Posting bond is one legal step. It is not proof that jail release processing has finished. Another hold, transfer instruction, or processing task may still affect the person's physical departure.
Confirm the exit with Henry County Jail. Then review Missouri Case.net for the pending case. A bond entry and a later roster miss are consistent with a bond-related departure, but the exact release time remains a Sheriff record question. The case also continues unless a later docket entry records dismissal or another disposition.
Find Henry County Released Inmates
Begin at the official Henry County source. Its live result can prove that a matching person was displayed in current local custody when checked. If the name is absent, note the date and time rather than treating the miss as a released-today result. The full verification route then follows the agency that controlled each part of the event.
- Search the Henry County current inmate roster and compare identifiers, booking date, agency, and charges.
- Call Jail or Records at 660-885-7300 for the local departure and request its release or transfer fields.
- Search Case.net for bond, judgment, dismissal, probation, sentence, and docket activity in the correct division.
- Use MODOC only when a state sentence or supervision path is plausible. Follow any institutional or community assignment.
- Use MOVANS for agency-reported notifications, then confirm a transfer with the receiving system.
- Use BOP or ICE only when federal or immigration custody is supported by the record.
The page for the Henry County Jail release search adds the facility contact and records route. For a named person, the process above is more reliable than a date-window list because Henry County does not publish a separate recent-release feed.
Henry County Release Roster Limits
The roster is date-descending, searchable, and limited to batches of ten on the web. Its displayed date is a booking date. Current entries may have been booked months before the search, so the page is not a rolling booking list and cannot be converted into a 24-hour or 72-hour release ledger.
The official roster page is shown here as a current-custody contrast, not as evidence of release.
A name shown there supports current custody at the time checked. A missing name supports only that the person was not found on that current display. The Sheriff's booking, release, or transfer record supplies the missing explanation.
Note: Record the date and time of a roster check so a later records inquiry has a clear reference point.
Missouri Search for Released Inmates
The MODOC Offender Search covers active offenders, including people in prison and those on probation, parole, or conditional release. It expressly excludes discharged offenders. Search by first and last name, try known aliases, complete the CAPTCHA, and compare DOC ID, birth date, physical identifiers, offenses, and assigned location. An institution points toward current state confinement. A community assignment and officer can support physical release into active supervision.
| Search field | How to read it |
|---|---|
| DOC ID and name | Primary identity match, checked with birth and physical details. |
| Assigned location | May identify a prison or community supervision assignment. |
| Assigned officer phone | Contact route when the record reflects community supervision. |
| Active and completed offenses | Sentence context, not the local jail exit time. |
| Aliases and photo | Additional identity clues when present. |
After final discharge, use the MODOC Sunshine offender database. Its nightly file includes people who are or have been supervised, along with a Completed Flag, assigned place, sentence data, and calculated minimum and maximum sentence dates. Those calculation fields are not actual gate-release timestamps.
The official historical and discharged-offender fallback is illustrated below.
Because MODOC calls the file working administrative data, an exact final discharge should be confirmed through an existing agency record when the precise date matters.
Henry County Release Case Routing
The Henry County Circuit Clerk separates criminal matters from traffic and misdemeanor inquiries. The Clerk is at 100 W Franklin, Room 212, Clinton. The main line is 660-885-7230, criminal is 660-885-7237, and traffic or misdemeanor is 660-885-7231. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A local label can be misleading. Sheriff-issued municipal citations are handled in Circuit Court, while Clinton also operates a Municipal Division. Identify the issuing agency, case number, and division before choosing a clerk line. Case.net can show a bond entry, judgment, sentence, probation order, dismissal, and later events. It cannot certify the exact jail-door time, so pair the docket with Henry County's physical-custody record.
Henry County Release Statistics Caution
A local April 2026 activity report stated that the Sheriff's Office made 36 arrests and that the detention center had an average daily population of 99. Neither figure counts releases. Arrests measure enforcement events. Average daily population measures occupied custody over time. Subtracting one from the other or calling either a released-inmate total would produce an unsupported claim.
This distinction matters when checking Henry County released inmates. A real release count needs a release ledger, jail activity log, or set of booking and release records for a defined period. News reports remain useful context but do not replace the Sheriff's custody records.
Note: Define the date range and distinguish community departures from transfers before describing any figure as a release total.
Henry County Transfer Release Records
Henry County's official feed can identify people held for Boone and St. Clair counties. That produces a custodian-versus-case-county issue. Henry County may control the bed, admission, physical departure, and transfer entry even when another county controls the warrant, charge, or court case. A statewide court search may be needed when the case county differs from the holding county.
If such a name disappears, request Henry County's release or transfer record first. Then contact the originating or receiving county and review its court file. A transfer back to that county is not a community release. This two-sided check prevents a physical departure from Henry County Jail from being mistaken for the end of all custody.
Henry County Release Notification Sources
MOVANS is Missouri's custody and court notification service. It can report changes from county jails and MODOC, but it is not a certified release record. Missouri replaced local-jail registrations on May 6, 2026, so users following a local detainee must use the current portal and create the required new registration. A notice proves the reporting source recorded a change. It does not by itself distinguish a walk-out from transfer.
For a state path, preserve or create the MODOC registration and compare the active offender record. The Missouri Sex Offender Registry is a narrow additional source only for people legally required to register. Its release information and photo do not make it a general released-person directory.
Note: A MOVANS notice reports the source agency's change and should be reconciled with the release or transfer record.
Henry County Post-Release Supervision
Parole and conditional release end physical prison confinement while MODOC legal custody continues. Probation is community supervision ordered by a court. The active MODOC search can return all three statuses. A community assigned place and officer phone are stronger evidence of active supervision than a roster miss or a future parole decision.
For an exact status, use the assigned field officer shown on the matched record or MODOC Constituent Services. No official statewide public name-searchable absconder list was found. Sparse public data does not prove that no warrant, violation, or supervision exists. The Henry County parole and probation page explains how final discharge and earned compliance credit differ from prison release.
Henry County Federal Release Search
The BOP Inmate Locator applies to federal Bureau of Prisons custody. A past Release Date with a released or not-in-BOP-custody location supports departure from BOP custody on that date. It does not establish the end of federal supervised release, resolve a Missouri case, or prove freedom from every other custodian. Federal pretrial custody may require the court docket because the U.S. Marshals Service offers no public released-person locator.
ICE's Online Detainee Locator matters only when a detainer, immigration case, or receiving-agency entry supports that path. It covers current detention and a limited recent released population. Exact-match rules, exclusion of minors, and the recent-release window make a negative result inconclusive. An ICE detainer can also lead to federal pickup after the otherwise-authorized county release point, so read the Henry County receiving-custodian field first.
Henry County Release Source Comparison
Choose the system by custodian and question. No single portal proves every form of release.
| Source | What a match supports | What a miss cannot prove |
|---|---|---|
| Henry County roster | Current local display at check time | Release, transfer, destination, or exact time |
| Sheriff release record | Local physical exit and recorded authority | Later release by a receiving agency |
| Case.net | Case events explaining legal status | Exact physical departure |
| MODOC active search | Active prison or supervision relationship | Historical final discharge |
| MODOC nightly data | Current and historical state relationship | Certified exact release time |
| BOP locator | Federal BOP custody or listed release | County, state, or all post-release status |
| ICE locator | Current or limited recent ICE result | Older release or all immigration history |
When sources conflict, the current official custodian controls over an old link, mirror, or directory page. Keep each statement limited to what that custodian records.
Henry County Jail Release Records
Henry County Jail is the only verified detention facility inside the county in the official-source sweep. It is a county jail operated by the Henry County Sheriff's Office at 200 N Main St, Clinton, MO 64735. The main and Records phone number is 660-885-7300. The operation is available around the clock, while published office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dispatch handles after-hours calls at 660-885-5587.
Its live roster answers whether someone is displayed in local custody now. The booking and inmate file answer when and why the person left. If the receiving agency is MODOC, another county, BOP, or ICE, continue with that custodian before describing the outcome as community release.
