MOVANS stands for Missouri Victim Automated Notification System. It receives custody and court-status information from participating local jails and the Missouri Department of Corrections. Search Henry County MOVANS

Suppose MOVANS reports release from Henry County Jail and the MODOC search begins returning an institutional assignment. The supported conclusion is that the person left county custody for state custody. It is not a community release. If the MODOC record later shows a community assigned place and officer, that supports physical prison release into active supervision.
A court-status event also needs a separate reading. Missouri Case.net may show bond, dismissal, probation, judgment, or a sentence entry tied to the same person. Missouri MOVANS Registration Reset
Missouri replaced local-jail notification registrations on May 6, 2026. Existing and new users following a local detention-center person had to create a registration on the new MOVANS portal. MODOC registration preferences also moved through the current portal. On an automated call, entering that PIN confirmed receipt; without confirmation, legacy guidance said calls could repeat every two hours.
Those PIN details are legacy guidance, not a promise about the current MOVANS screen. Follow the live portal and current state instructions when they differ. This distinction prevents an outdated VINELink walkthrough from causing a missed Henry County alert.
Henry County Alert Limits
Data timing is the first limit. A jail or corrections agency must send or update the source event before MOVANS can notify a registrant. A recent move may appear in the jail, MODOC, or court system before the notification record changes. A delayed alert does not alter the actual legal or physical event.
Coverage is the second limit. MOVANS is not the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator, and it does not replace the ICE Online Detainee Locator when immigration custody is evidenced. The BOP locator can show a federal release date and released or not-in-BOP-custody location. ICE has its own exact-match and recent-release limits. Neither should be used as a generic Henry County jail search.
Meaning is the third limit. A release alert is custodian-specific. Henry County Jail can release a person to MODOC, another county, or another authority. The local event is a release from Henry County custody, yet the person may still be incarcerated.
